About Coast
Coast is a small, focused edge for the static side of the web — the files a browser needs before anything else can happen.
We began as a handful of volunteers tired of watching links rot. A library gets renamed, a tag is force-pushed, a free mirror quietly shuts down, and somewhere a site that nobody has touched in years stops rendering. Coast exists so that a URL, once it has been published, keeps meaning the same thing.
How it works
Releases are written once to origin storage and replicated to every PoP over a private mesh. Each PoP keeps immutable objects until they age out, so a popular asset effectively never leaves the cache. An anycast front door sends every request to the nearest healthy location, and TLS certificates are issued and rotated automatically.
What we don’t do
No server-side rendering, no functions, no third-party analytics, and no request logs tied to individual visitors. Coast moves bytes that were already public and then gets out of the way.
Who pays for it
Open-source delivery is free and always will be. Sponsors and transit partners cover the bandwidth, and we publish uptime and capacity on the network page.
